Melissa, the artist, recently painted this portrait of Jimi, a sweet, sugar-faced old boy whose photo was shared by a member of the greyhound community on social media. After reaching out to his owner and explaining that the painting would be raffled to help support greyhound rescue, she was graciously given permission to use the photo as her reference.
Jimi’s gentle eyes and hopeful expression—maybe wishing for a few more ear-scratches or a treat—truly inspired me. She captured that loving, soulful character that makes greyhounds so special.
This painting is more than just art; it’s a tribute to the bond between greyhounds and their people, and a celebration of rescue efforts that give these wonderful dogs a second chance.
