Gypsy
Gypsy is a red fawn female who had her 4th birthday in February. She
was tested with cats last year and deemed to be cat-tolerant. She is a
skittish girl who will do best in a home with at least one other
greyhound, the more the merrier, with humans experienced with
greyhounds, and with no children. She will require a yard because she
is so paranoid on walks that she does not ever relieve herself, and
also because she is an active girl who loves to run. We're not able to
test for this, but Gypsy would probably not do well as an only dog.
Gypsy is a "dog's dog", she loves nothing better than to play in the
yard with her foster buddies and follow them around. However, when
it's time to go for a walk with them, she tries to hide. She'd rather
stay home but her foster mother keeps insisting that she go along, to
help her eventually overcome her fears of the perilous neighborhood
(trash cans at the curb, people in their yards or driveways, kids on
bicycles, kids making noise, kids in general, school buses, delivery
trucks, motorcycles, items blowing in the wind, roofers on rooftops,
you name it). She crates very well, also loads and rides in the car
well. At times her foster mother is surprised when out of the blue she
wakes up in the morning to find Gypsy snuggled up close against her.
It's like she wants so badly to trust and be loved, but just needs
time and patience.
