Verizon Team-Building
Greyt Rub-A-Dub-Dub
(or Verizon Goes to the Hounds)
June
27 , 2002
On the afternoon of June 27, 2002, the Network Engineering and
Planning-West management team, along with a few guests from other
departments, participated in a community service team-building
activity with Greyhounds Unlimited (GU). The employees visited
the Lemon's kennel where they basically had a mini "Greyt
Rub-A-Dub-Dub" (cleaned the stalls, washed the food and water
dishes, and bathed, walked and spent some one-on-one time with
a few of the adoptable retired racing and rescued greyhounds).
GU's webmaster (a.k.a. Dave Gillen) was on-site to take pictures
of the newly arrived greyhounds so the employees were requested
to pose the hounds and move aside to be out of the picture.
In addition to Susan Lemon, Verizon's own Jim DeGraff (also a
GU Board Member) was on hand to provide direction and insight
as to the handling and care of the greyhounds.
Toward the end of the day, to make sure the team was paying close
attention, they were given a quiz (which will be included in the
next newsletter).
The employees made a cash donation, which Verizon matched, the
hounds received a little extra attention, and a greyt time was
had by all!
Just another opportunity for spreading the GREYT word!

Is this how
you walk a greyhound?

Hey, this
is pretty cool!

Why do I always
get dish washing duty?

Sweep those

Hey, he's

That first
tentative touch...

What's this?
Oooo, Manna from Heaven!

Greyhound

The reason
we're all here.

|
|
|
Yeah, I know
how to do this.
|
|
|
I'm still
on dish washing duty!
|
|
|
Really, I'm
just looking for a dry towel.
